About Cameron Semmens

We all have times in our lives when we need a safe space to work through something – our grief, our ‘stuckness’, or our trauma. It is my aim to offer a non-judgemental space with nourishing words from which you can find your way forward. I do not see myself as an expert in your life, rather, my role as a counsellor is about facilitating your insight and growth – empowering you to create your own solution and the life you really want to live.

Who am I?

  • I’m a lover of deep conversations sprinkled with laughter.
  • I am boldly vulnerable and passionate about the power of listening and presence.
  • I bring my 30 years of experiences as a professional poet and creative educator into the therapeutic space, providing insights and lessons that flow from creativity to therapy.
  • I have been part of a men’s listening circle for over 15 years and recognise the power and need for unique healing spaces for men.
  • I am a husband, a father to 2 teenagers and stepfather to a seven-year-old boy.
  • I am a connoisseur of fine words – aware of the power and potential of well-placed words, but
  • I also recognise the limits of language, where words cannot reach. This is where I am a great believer in the need for therapies that incorporate the body, not just the mind, so called ‘somatic therapies’, which include such things as breathing exercises, walks in the park, and the practice of 5Rhythms dance.
  • I live and work in Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs.
